Desmond Lloyd OTTEY
Desmond Lloyd Ottey passed away on July 4, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on December 27, 1942, in Patty Hill, Hanover, Jamaica, to the late Cecil and Margaret Ottey, Desmond was a devoted father to Yvonne Briscoe, Selvin Lloyd Ottey, and Sonia Brown. He was predeceased by his son Junior Ottey. Desmond is survived by his grandchildren Maurice, Matthew, Michael, Karsten, and Caitlen, as well as his great-grandchildren Koa and Ruah. He is also remembered by his siblings Delores Forrester, Kenrick Ottey, and Cecil Ottey. Desmond had a distinguished career as an electrician, notably becoming Bristol's first Black electrician, and later dedicated over 30 years of service to the Hamilton Street Railway. He was an active member of ACCA and the Lions Club in Blackheath, and volunteered with the Good Shepherd. Desmond will be remembered for his generosity, warm spirit, and love for his family.
