William "Bill" Donald COATS
William "Bill" Donald Coats passed away peacefully at Arbour Trails in Guelph on August 21, 2026, at the age of 96, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted father to Lyndy Edwards, Ian Coats (Laurie), Don Coats (Susanne), Karen Kitching (Jay), and Kathy Coats (Harold). Bill was a caring grandfather to Lindsay (Iain), Taryn (Austin), Rachael (Brandon), Nicola, Alanna, Pamela (Nick), and Jessica, and a proud great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister-in-law Diane and predeceased by his beloved wife Gloria, sister Mary, and daughter-in-law Paula. Bill dedicated over 25 years as a math teacher at Acton High School and was an active member of his community, contributing as treasurer at St. Jacobs Meadows and his church. He enjoyed bridge and cherished moments at the family cottage on Kahshe Lake. Arrangements are entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, with visitation on September 13, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of books in his memory.
