Margaret E. Switzer passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born on July 9, 1939. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Warren Fowler and Katherine Reynolds; her brother, Leonard Fowler; and her sister, Deborah Boyd. She is survived by her siblings Jolene Legere, Linda Hooper, Diana Steip, and Ronald Fowler; her children Gary Teipel, Kathleen Teipel, Guy Teipel, and Deborah Brantley; her grandchildren Jennifer, Erika, Brittney, Ryan, Christopher, Stephanie, Chad, Phillip, Stephen, and Chloe; and her great-grandchildren Anastasia, Sophia, Branson, Eli, Rylee, Emmie, Ezekiel, and Olivia. Margaret grew up in Amherst, Nova Scotia, and later raised her family in the United States. She eventually settled in Guelph, Ontario, after lovingly caring for her mother, Kay, to whom she was deeply devoted. In Guelph, Margaret owned and operated a successful janitorial business, Busy Beaver, for many years. Margaret loved to travel and treasured time spent visiting her children and grandchildren. She was never without her Old Maid cards, always ready for a game that brought laughter and joy to the children she adored. With her sense of adventure and warm, loving spirit, Margaret naturally drew people to her. This was especially evident during her work as a caregiver for seniors, where her compassion and energy were deeply cherished by those she cared for. Margaret will be profoundly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, doctors, and nurses who provided such compassionate and attentive care during her final moments. The family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. A Celebration of Margaret's Life will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. Private interment to take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph, at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Salvation Army may be made.
