Elva Ruth KOCHER
Elva Ruth Kocher (née Law), aged 99, of Guelph, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, at Cambridge Country Manor, surrounded by her family. Born on June 3, 1927, in Sarnia to Leonard and Rita Law, Elva married Gordon Kocher in 1946. They initially lived in Drayton, where they farmed, before moving to Guelph to raise their five children. Elva worked for over 20 years at Rockwell Manufacturing as a gas meter assembler and later as a janitor at the University of Guelph. After retiring, she and Gordon built their dream home in Bracebridge, where she lived for 20 years after his passing. A dedicated volunteer, Elva was the first female time-keeper for the Guelph Minor Hockey Association, serving for nearly 50 years, and sponsored a minor hockey team for over 45 years. She was a devout Catholic, a lector, and a member of the Catholic Women's League for 75 years. Elva's independent spirit and caring nature touched many lives.
