Doug Bates of Guelph, Ontario passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on March 6, 1950. He is survived by his daughter Sherri Binkle, his siblings Leonard (married to Elsie Bates), Wayne (married to Connie Bates), Tim (married to Susan Bates), Sharon Andrews of Markdale, Nancy (married to John Stone), Shirley Bates of Durham, Gloria (married to Glenn Stevens) and Patricia Bates of Kitchener, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Christina Bates and his parents Frederick Bates and Florence Bates (Wilt). Visitation was held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., both at Hardy‑Lee Funeral Home, 44 John St S, Harriston, ON N0G1Z0. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph's Health Centre in Guelph.
