Albert E Myers
Albert Edwin Myers died on May 22, 2026, at the age of 94, in Fort Myers, Florida. He was the first pastor of St Paul Lutheran Church in Richmond Hill from 1961 to 1966 and the first Dean of the Central District of the reorganized Lutheran Synod. Albert was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, taught their public speaking course, and entered their national speaking contest after winning the Province contest. He published devotional messages in The Liberal, Richmond Hill's newspaper, and in the synod magazine, and had devotional messages on television and radio. Albert was born on September 18, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, to Forrest D. Myers and Marian H. Conner. He attended several institutions, including Swarthmore College, The University of Akron, Wittenberg University, Hamma Divinity School, Oberlin College Graduate School of Theology, and held the D.Min. degree from Vanderbilt University. Albert served as a Lutheran minister in various locations, including Flin Flon, Manitoba, Ashland Co., OH, Cheyenne, WY, Richmond Hill, Ontario, and Pittsburgh, PA. He was also an honorary Canon in the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Stephen in Harrisburg. Albert served for nearly 24 years as Executive Director of the PA Council of Churches. He is survived by his children, Paul T. Myers, Kathy I. Jones, Deborah H. Rice, and Forrest C. Myers, and his grandchildren, Thomas J. Cantlin, Heather A. Jones, Jordan P. Myers, Kelsey F. Myers, Alden J. Myers, Gray C. Myers, Callie A. Myers, and Camden. Albert was predeceased by his first wife, Naomi A. Paullin.
