Maurice Peter THOMAS

The family of Maurice (Moe) Peter Thomas announces with deep sadness his peaceful passing at the Welland Hospital on May 7, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Ukraine in 1935, Maurice immigrated to Canada with his family in 1938 and was raised in Fenwick. He built a life characterized by faith, family, hard work, and service to others. A passionate sports enthusiast, he played baseball and hockey in his youth and remained active in minor hockey and community activities. Maurice was known for his exceptional skills in building and repairing, always ready to help those in need. He married Davene (Dee) in 1958, and together they raised a loving family, including children Gregory (Joanna), Matthew, and Melissa (Kevin). He is survived by his sister Olga Culig (the late Robert) and many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by his brother Michael. A Celebration of Life will be held at Pelham Friends Church on May 14, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
