Mary Buttle
Mary Ann Murray Buttle (nee Thomson) passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 100 years. She is survived by her son, Ken (Judy) Buttle; grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Price, Kenny (Lina) Buttle, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Jessie (nee Brown) Thomson; her husband, Percy Buttle; sister/husband Helen (Nellie)/David Campbell; brothers/wives, Bobby/Evelyn Thomson, Tommy/Ena Thomson; niece, Ann Grant; and nephew, Allen Thomson. Born in Galeshiels, Scotland, Mary met Percy at a dance hall while serving in the Canadian Army during WWII. After the war, Percy returned home, later asking her father for permission to marry her. Mary had lied about her age by two years. Mary and Percy were wed, and she made the long trip to Canada via ship as a war bride. After having a son, they returned to live in Scotland for 10 years, then returned to Canada to stay. Mary worked at Acres Inter'l Ltd. for 24 years before retiring. She loved her family and friends, enjoyed attending St. David's-Queenston United Church, socializing, and dancing, which she continued to do until recently. Arrangements are entrusted to Pleasantview Funeral Home & Cemetery, where cremation has taken place.
