Jean Goodfellow (Wellman)
Jean Goodfellow (née Wellman) passed away peacefully at her home on August 16, 2026, at the age of 83. She was the devoted wife of Bill for 64 years, a mother to Bob Goodfellow (Mirjam) and Jennifer Goodfellow (Jason Barr), and a grandmother to McKay (Kate) and Matheson (Danica). Jean was also the sister of John Wellman (Edna) and Donna Bate (Geoff) and was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Rosemary Wellman. She met Bill in 1958 at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, married in 1962, and raised their family first in Alberta before moving to Ontario, where she worked on a grape farm in North Pelham from 1972 to 1987 and later produced allergy extracts. After their children left home, Jean and Bill fostered children, including Rosemary, and remained foster grandparents. Her interests included reading, cryptic crosswords, and crocheting. The family thanks the 911 operator, volunteer firefighters, paramedics, and police for their care during her final moments. A memorial service will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, on Monday, August 24, 2026, with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Fonthill Firefighters Association at Pelham Fire Department, 177 Highway 20 West, POB 323, Fonthill, ON.
