"Amie" Garland AMORFINA

Amie Garland Amorfina (née Hipolito) was born on July 6, 1935, in Cabanatuan in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines, to her mother, Agripina Francisco, and father, Aurelio Hipolito. After living a full life, Amie passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 90 at Extendicare Lakefield, in Lakefield, Ontario. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Gary Edward Garland, and her beloved son, Fabilito. Amie will be dearly missed by her adopted son, Fr. Dominick Mbah, and her many friends. Amie was a nurse in New Jersey, USA, and in Welland, Ontario, working in hospital nurseries with newborns. She and her husband, Gary, travelled extensively, gave generously to the community and churches, and were part of the beautiful Catholic Filipino community BLD and FCAN Filipino-Canadian Association of Niagara. She loved to dance, travel, be with friends, and offer loving care to all, especially newborns. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 7 to 9 p.m., with vigil prayers at 7:30 p.m., at Pleasantview Funeral Home, 2250 RR 20, Fonthill, ON L0S 1E6. Funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. at St. Kevin Catholic Church, 303 Niagara St., Welland, ON L3C 1K5. Amie will be buried with her late husband, Gary Garland, at a future date at Pleasantview Cemetery, Welland, ON. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Missionaries of St. Paul Inc.
