Janet Richards

Janet Richards passed away on March 20, 2026, at Riverview Gardens, Chatham, at the age of 76. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Eileen Moore. Janet is survived by her children, Denise (Rob) Bernardi of Chatham, Dan (Vivi) Richards of Taiwan, and Sam (Tenecia) Richards of Kelowna, BC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alex, Luca, Quinn Bernardi, Churchill, and Marlow Richards, as well as her siblings, John Moore, Don (Dawn) Moore, Patricia (Mike) Robertson, Chris (Mark) Edmondson, and Mark (Tracey) Moore, and many nieces and nephews. Janet will be deeply missed by her friends, Marilyn Field and Cherie McCabe. Janet worked with the former City of Chatham Police department from 1966 to 1969 and later with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent from 1998 until her retirement in August 2020. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Riverview Gardens and Kennedy Funeral Home in Essex, Ontario, for their care and support. As per Janet's wishes, cremation has taken place, and she will be laid to rest with her parents at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation in Janet's memory.
