Bertha Plein (nee Martin)
Bertha Plein (nee Martin) passed away at WRHN-Midtown after a brief illness on Monday, April 6, 2026, in her 90th year, at the age of 89. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Tony Plein Sr. (2025). Bertha is the loving mother of Anthony Jr. and Robin, Karen and Gary Law, Gloria (2023) and John Faulds, James, Dan and Lorrie, Lorrie and Jim Dietrich, Charles and Judy (2025), and Cathy-Sue and Jamie Normore. She will be lovingly remembered by her 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Bertha will also be missed by her sister-in-law Marion Martin, and by many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents William and Susannah Martin, grandson John, great-grandson Emerson, siblings Esther Waugh, Lena Belbeck, Anne (Ross) Waugh, and David Martin. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at the Elmira Legion, Branch 469, 11 First St. E., Elmira. Remembrances will be shared at 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated, and may be made through the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
