Daniel Stewart Curtis Gennings passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the age of 44. Born and raised in Barrie, he attended Warnica Public School and Innisdale Secondary School, later graduating with an honours diploma in sales and marketing from Loyalist College in Belleville. Daniel was a remarkable athlete, playing house league and rep level hockey and baseball in Barrie, and enjoyed fishing as a child and adult. He was a skilled handcrafter and a fine artist. Daniel lived and worked in Orillia for about 13 years, developing a network of friends and acquaintances who will miss him. He was a quiet person with a wry sense of humour and cared deeply for those who mattered. Predeceased by his grandparents, Willis and Irene Gennings, and Stewart and Hazel Cave, and his uncle, Bryan Gennings. Survived by his parents, Linda and the late Boyd Gennings, and his brother, Michael, as well as his brother-in-law, April, and his nephews, Samuel and George. Friends will be received by his family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home - Wasaga Beach Chapel on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, in the funeral home Chapel at 11 o'clock, followed by interment at Mansfield Presbyterian Cemetery. Donations in memory of Daniel can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or any youth-oriented sports organization.
