Harry Phillip "Phil" Thomas

Harry Phillip 'Phil' Thomas passed away on November 9, 2025. A devoted husband, father, and son, Phil was always ready to welcome others with open arms—extending his care and kindness to every child who came through his home. He spent his career as a proud Steam Fitter with Local 46 Union and was an active member of St. John's Baptist Church in Richmond Hill until its closing. For many years, he shared his time and leadership as a Cub and Scout leader with the 9th Richmond Hill Scouts Canada and served his community as an Auxiliary Constable with the York Regional Police. A familiar face on the baseball diamonds of Richmond Hill, Phil also enjoyed many years as a respected umpire. After moving to Collingwood, he found great purpose volunteering at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital (CGMH)—a role close to his heart. Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Gale (nee Hollowell); his children, Shane (Carrie), Stacey (Daryl), and Bill (Kim); his cherished grandchildren; and his brother, Howard (Rita). Predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Greta Thomas. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation would be deeply appreciated.
