Mari Orfei (née Marinelli)
Maria Orfei passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, in her 95th year, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Pietro; her brother, Emilio; and dear sisters and brothers-in-laws, Italo Orfei, Darmo Burattini, Maria Burattini, Concetta Burattini, Rina, Gina and Barbara Orfei, Irma De Danieli, Dalmazio Pilati, and Achille Falcioni. Maria will be deeply missed by her devoted daughter, Daniela and son-in-law, Tony. She was a beloved grandmother to her granddaughters, Lauren, Elise, and Katie; and a proud great-grandmother to Alessia, Leo, and Mariella. She also leaves behind her brother Giacomo, her sisters-in-law Malvina and Laura, along with many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Maria came to Canada as a new bride in 1958 from San Vittore, Genga, Italy. She worked tirelessly for her family and cared deeply for others. A talented seamstress, she found joy in helping people and formed many lasting friendships. She was a longtime member of the Italian Canadian Cultural Society in Port Colborne. Family and friends will be received at the Armstrong Funeral Home & Chapel, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on Friday, May 1st from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 123 King Street, Port Colborne, on Saturday, May 2nd.
