Gloria Elinor Heimbecker
Gloria Elinor Heimbecker died on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the age of 96 while receiving care at WRHN in Chicopee. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Harry Heimbecker, who predeceased her in 2023, and the mother of Jennifer Baker (married to Einar Carlsen), Judy Bryan (married to Roy), Brian Heimbecker (married to Laurie), David Heimbecker (married to Elesia), and Steven Heimbecker (married to Diana Lang). She is survived by twelve grandchildren and thirteen great‑grandchildren, as well as her sister‑in‑law Joan Schnell. Her parents, Wilfred and Eleanor Rivers, preceded her in death. A career mathematics teacher, Gloria was affectionately known as "Mom Heimbecker" by her students. In retirement she enjoyed golf, square dancing, cruising with her husband, and active participation in choirs, often as a soloist. She also pursued crocheting, bead art, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. At her request no visitation will be held. A memorial service will take place in the chapel of Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room. Private interment is planned for Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo. The service will be livestreamed and recorded on her tribute page at www.erbgood.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mount Zion Lutheran Church or the WRHN Foundation Cardiac Care Unit, which can be arranged through the funeral home.
