She was predeceased by her parents, Sherland Irwin and Verna Irwin, as well as her brother, James Irwin. Valerie is survived by her siblings, Penny MacDonald (Bill) and Jeffery Irwin (Laurie), along with her nephew, Paul Grant (Mandy), and her nieces, Megan and Katherine Irwin.
