Raymond Albert Haberer, a proud veteran of the U.S. Naval Service, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family. Born on November 2, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Albert Haberer and Helen O'Leary, Ray grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI, before moving to Windsor, ON, at the age of 7. He enlisted in the US Navy on November 9, 1962, and attained the rank of Boatswain's Mate Second Class while serving on The USS Ranger CV-61 during the Vietnam War. Ray was honorably discharged on November 8, 1968. He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Sutton and is survived by his stepdaughter Sarah Bindner, grandchildren Tiffany Tessier, Megan Dunn, Tyler Bindner, Jakob Preston, and Ryan Bindner, brother Thomas Haberer, nieces Ingrid, Paula, and Mary, nephew Ted, and best friend Ron Sharpe. Ray is also remembered by his beloved dog, Dexter. He enjoyed various hobbies, including reading, boating, fishing, and gardening. Ray will be remembered for his storytelling, jokes, and love for his family. He received consistent care and visits from Megan and Nathan in his country home, where he was able to remain until his passing.
