Mary Leyte

Mary Leyte of Chatham, Ontario, passed away on August 24, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude (Doody) and Michael Hannon, her husband Arthur Leyte, her son David, her brother Cyril Hannon, and her brother‑in‑law Alex Karapita. Survivors include her stepmother Margaret Browne; her children Chris Leyte (married to Becky), Bob Leyte (married to Kathy), Margaret McKenzie (married to Scott), Stephen Leyte (married to Michelle), Jim Leyte (married to Janice), Joanne Leyte and Greg Leyte (married to Johanne); her sister Gertrude Karapita; her sister‑in‑law Meryl Hannon; as well as sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great‑grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Ursula's Church, 205 Tweedsmuir Avenue West, Chatham, Ontario, followed by an entombment from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The family requests donations to the Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
