Margaret Broenink-Hasselaar

Margaret Broenink-Hasselaar of Chatham, Ontario, passed away on September 10, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents, Bernardus and Dirkje Dekker; her husbands, John Hasselaar and Walter Broenink; her children, Shirley Hasselaar and Donald; her siblings, Gerritt, Jan, Richard, Hendrik Dekker, and Corrie Samson; and her stepsiblings, Diny Budding and Harry Dekker. Margaret is survived by her children, Diane Lieder (Hans) of Blenheim, Walter Hasselaar (Eunice), Jeanetta McBrayne (Carl), Bernice Card (Eldon), Mary Kahue (Jerry), and Yvonne Rivers (late Bill), all of Chatham. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Paul Card (Kristie), Eric Lieder (Tracy), Marc Lieder, Tabitha Umanji (Zamir), Travis McBrayne (Mandy), Ryan Kahue, and Melissa Marta (Tim), as well as her great-grandchildren, Maxine, Thomas, Bryce, Megan, Naomi, Alexander, and Carter. Visitation will take place on September 15, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the First Reformed Church, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, Covenant House, or the Lymphedema Association of Ontario.
