James Innes McLagan
James Innes McLagan, also known as Jim 'Mick' McLagan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the age of 84. A lifelong resident of Chatham, he was predeceased by his parents, James McLagan II and Ruby McLagan, and his wives, Ruth Ellen 'Rell' McLagan, who died in 2001, and Marilyn McLagan, who died in 2024. James will be dearly missed by his son, Dave McLagan, and his wife, Melanie, as well as his children, Lori McCorkle and her husband, Ken, Cheryl Lewis and her husband, Deryck, Brian Lawson, and David Lawson. He was a proud grandfather to Abegail McLagan, Connor McLagan, Kendra Deelstra and her husband, Mike, Mark McCorkle and his wife, Emily, Andrew McCorkle, Nathan Perry and his wife, Christina, and Cassidy Perry and her husband, Austin. James was also a proud great-grandfather to Amelia, Memphis, Cameron, Teddy, Murphy, and Kennie Lynn, and was predeceased by his great-grandchild, Clarke. He is also survived by his sister, Gale McLagan, and was predeceased by his younger brother, John McLagan, who died in 2025. James was a proud police officer with the Chatham-Kent Police Service for 31 years and served his country in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service time at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Burial will take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, at a later date. Donations may be made in memory of James to the New Beginnings ABI and Stroke Recovery.
