Pauline Ethel Stortz (nee Whitelaw) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the age of 87. She was the beloved wife of the late Victor Austin Stortz, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Pauline was the dear mother of Chris Stortz (Suzanne) and Judi Jessome (John Baverstock), and the loving Nan of Corey Gmelin. She is remembered by her sisters-in-law, Mary Renner (the late Jim) and Beryl Stortz (the late Joseph), and her brother-in-law, Orvall Stortz (Laura). Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Marie Whitelaw, and by her brother-in-law, Ambrose Stortz (the late Teresa). Born at St. Mary's hospital in Kitchener, Ontario, Pauline lived in Preston her whole life and was a member of St. Clement's R.C. Church. She was retired from her private hairstyling salon. Pauline's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Marg, Taylor, and the staff at Hilltop Manor for the compassionate and loving care provided during her time there, as well as to Dr. Page and the staff at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital ICU. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's R.C. Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge, on Saturday, June 20th, at 10:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place and a private inurnment will take place at Parklawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Pauline's memory to a charity of your choice.
