Christopher Nicholas POHRAN

Christopher Nicholas Pohran, a longtime resident of Calgary, Alberta, died on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born in Niagara, Ontario, on April 21, 1957, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital and earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph. After moving to Calgary in the 1980s, he met his wife, Alba-luz "Abbey" Pohran, and they married on August 3, 1986. Chris worked for many years as a Roads Worker for the City of Calgary, a role he found memorable, and he cultivated a personal collection of discarded street signs in his garage. An avid fisherman, he frequently fished and camped with his family at Spray Lakes in Kananaskis and visited his hometown of Niagara to be with relatives. He was also known for his humour, rebellious spirit, and deep appreciation of rock and roll, playing piano and guitar and enjoying singing. He is survived by his wife, Abbey; his sons Nigel (Josephine) Pohran and Kelley Pohran; his daughter Alannah (Brandyn Storms) Pohran; his grandchildren Riley, Lucille and Oscar; his brother John (Cynthia) Pohran; and his sisters Sonya (James) Watson, Alexandra (Russell) Pohran-Dawkins, Margaret Khomenko and Donna (Jon Cecilli) Pohran, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. Nicholas Pohran, in 2006, and his mother, Colleen Pohran, in 2020. Funeral services will be held at McInnis & Holloway, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, on Monday, August 24, 2026.
