Markos Psarakis

Markos Psarakis passed away on February 27, 2026, in his 93rd year. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Polyxeni. Markos was a loving and proud father to Stella (Nikos), Mathew (Irene), Haralampos (late Rose), and Maria (Angelo). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Fotini (Ilias), Polyxeni (Dimitris), Markos (Aysha), Terry (Brittany), Kristopher (Ashley), Polly (Miguel), Marko, Evanthia (Johnny) and Sozo; and by his great grandchildren Ioannis, Efraimia, Kostantinos, and Maria. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers Athanasios (Vasilia), Sarantis (survived by wife Efthimia), Angelo (survived by wife Evdokia), and his niece Dr. Stella (Kostas). He is lovingly remembered by his sister Anna (late Kostas). Fondly remembered and loved by his many nieces and nephews: Helen(George), Katina(Spiros), Stella, Athanasia, Anna, Stella(Nikos), Matheos(Alisia), John, Dimitris, Stelios and Aristea. Born in Myrina on the beautiful island of Lemnos, Greece, Markos was the son of the late Matheos and Styliani Psarakis. He grew up working alongside his father on the family farm, where he developed a lifelong love of the land and gardening. At the age of 26, Markos boarded a ship to Canada and then arriving by train at Liuna Station. His early years in Canada were marked with sacrifice and determination, as his first goal was to work hard and support his family back home in Greece. He soon returned to Lemnos to marry the love of his life, Polyxeni, on a beautiful sunny day. Together they began a remarkable 63-year marriage of raising four children and building a home filled with warmth, laughter, and faith. Markos was a proud and dedicated member of LIUNA Local 837 for 60 years. He contributed to many major Hamilton landmarks, including the Jolly Cut and the Burlington Skyway.
