Mario Lentinu

Mario Lentinu passed away in Burlington, Ontario, on August 4, 2026, at the age of 98. He was born in Luras, Sardegna, Italy, and emigrated to Canada in 1957 after working in Corsica, France. Mario married the late Lucia Fasulo in July 1958, and together they raised three children—Pauline, Gino, and Maria—and welcomed grandchildren Branden and Ryan. He was the son of the late Sebastiano Lentinu and Paola Marci, and brother to the late Giovanna Lentinu and Maria Lentinu (Tonino). Mario spent nine years as a gardener and landscaper at the Burlington Golf & Country Club, followed by twenty‑five years in the same role for the City of Burlington, retiring in 1989. He was known for his vegetable garden and homemade wine, which he shared with family and friends. Visitation will be held at Smith's Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street, Burlington, on Thursday, August 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will follow at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 2016 Blairholm Avenue, on Friday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m., with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, 600 Spring Gardens Road. A reception will be held at St. John’s Parish Hall. The family requests no flowers.
