Lawrence Adams BA. M.Ed BELL

Lawrence Adams Bell BA. M.Ed. passed away on June 11, 2026, in his 102nd year at The Williamsburg Retirement Residence in Burlington, Ontario. He was 101 years old. Beloved husband of the late Irene Cloke, he is survived by daughters Martha (Garry MacDonald) of Burlington, Dr. Ruthanne Bell (Todd Anear) of Saskatoon, and Susan Alway of Tampa, Florida. He was a dear grandfather of Dr. Lauren MacDonald (Ben Brady) and Emily (Tim Horner), Jeffrey (Erin Patricia), Ryan and Gregory Alway, and Connor (Aimée Ker) Anear. Lawrence was also a great-grandfather of Jack, Max, George Brady, and Charlie and Henry Horner. He was predeceased by brothers John and Clifford, and sister Jean. Lawrence was an educator for forty years and served as principal of six Hamilton schools. He was a past president of the Council for Exceptional Children and a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton Central and the Probus Club of Hamilton Mountain. The family would like to extend special thanks to The Williamsburg's nurses, PSW's, and staff for their compassionate care, as well as the staff at Heritage Place, his previous residence for 14 years. Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, on Wednesday, June 17th from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 18 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Compass Point Bible Church would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
