Ian Bruce COWAN

Ian Bruce Cowan, Lieutenant Colonel retired, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Ottawa on July 27, 1943, to Marjorie and Ralph Johnston, Ian is survived by his wife, Janice Cowan, whom he married in Perth, Australia, in 1966, and with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 8, 2026. He will be deeply missed by his children, Angus Cowan and his wife Heather, Kyra Cowan and her husband Fred, and Hamish Cowan and his wife Becca, as well as his grandchildren, Alec, Lachlan, Quentin, and Charlotte. Ian is also survived by his sisters, Gail and her husband Steve, and Judie. He was predeceased by his older brother, Richard, who died in December 2020. A gathering to celebrate Ian's life will be held at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home in Burlington from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 14. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the ALS Society of Canada.
