Elisabeth Ann (nee Hayes) WASSLEN

Elisabeth Ann Wasslen (nee Hayes) passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on March 15, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert 'Al' Wasslen for 63 years. Elisabeth is survived by her loving children, Julie Mototsune (Richard), Gary Wasslen (Diane), and Karen Wasslen (Gary Simmons), her grandchildren, Alannah and Mark Mototsune, Michael (Rachel), Hannah (Jake) and Brandon Wasslen, and Iris, Gordon and Emily Simmons, and her great-grandson, Jiraiya. She is also survived by her niece, Kim Siren. Elisabeth was predeceased by her sister, Joan Siren (the late Eric), and was a beloved sister-in-law and aunt to the large Wasslen family. Born in Middlesbrough, England, Elisabeth emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1955, where she met and married Al in Hamilton, and together they raised their family in six Canadian cities across Western Canada and Ontario. Visitation will be held at Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home, 2241 New Street, Burlington, ON, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with lunch following. Interment will follow at a later date at Burlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Joseph Brant Hospital or Hamilton General Hospital.
