SUSAN MARION BURNS

Susan Marion Burns (nee Dingman), a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on August 30, 2026, at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, NS. Born on September 24, 1938, in Stratford, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Una Dingman. Susan is survived by her daughter, Kirsten Barr of Mill Village, NS, and her sons, Christopher Barr (Beata) of Toronto, John Barr (Anna) of Arlington, VA, and Michael Barr (Petya) of Marbella, Spain. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Krystyna Barr, Jack Barr, Kelly Koleva, and Alena Barr, as well as her former husband, Robert Barr of Toronto, and brother-in-law, John Barr. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Stuart Burns, she is also survived by her brother Charles Dingman, sister-in-law Margaret Dingman, and nephews and niece, Thor and Carolyn Dingman of Stratford, and Robert Dingman of Kitchener. Susan contracted polio in 1947, leading to her treatment at the Elizabeth Kenny Institute, where she learned to ski despite her challenges. An avid collector of antiques and a talented interior designer, she will be remembered for her resilience and vibrant spirit.
