Marlene Joy (nee Brush) BARNA

Marlene Joy Barna, nee Brush, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 15, 2026, at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Al, to whom she was married for almost 60 years, and her youngest child, Peter. Marlene is survived by her three sons, Paul and his partner Karen, Terry and his partner Lynne, and Glenn and his partner Suzanne, as well as eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by her three younger sisters, Shirley, Dorothy and her husband Bruce, and Lynda, and her many nieces, nephews, and friends. Marlene spent over 30 years as a registered nurse with the Victorian Order of Nurses and later with CCAC, now known as Home and Community Support Services. She was an avid supporter of community arts, often participating alongside her husband in organizations such as The Mississippi Muds and K-W Musical Productions. The family will receive friends at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on July 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on July 22nd from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service and burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Food4Kids Waterloo Region, a local food bank, or K-W Musical Productions.
