Grant "Grantly" David HOFFMAN

Grant David Hoffman passed away on January 24, 2026, at the age of 85. He was widely known and fondly remembered as a beloved figure in local broadcasting. Before his time on television, he hosted his own radio program on CKKW, where his natural warmth, love of music, and easy connection with listeners quickly made him a familiar and trusted voice in the community. That success led to his role as the charismatic host of CKCO-TV's Canadian Bandstand, a program he revitalized and expanded, transforming it from a small local show to a vibrant weekly gathering for hundreds of teens. Grant actively recruited local high school students and brought energy, music, and excitement to every broadcast, helping to shape the region's music scene and leaving a lasting imprint on Kitchener-Waterloo's cultural history. With his easy smile and genuine enthusiasm, he became a trusted and recognizable presence, celebrating music, spotlighting talent, and connecting people long before community connection became a buzzword. A proud and lifelong member of the Kitchener community, Grant lived a life deeply rooted in people, music, sport, and service. He held several respected leadership roles throughout the region, including Manager of Conestoga Golf and Country Club and 17 years as Manager of the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Box Office.
