Victor William "Vic" Symes
Victor William 'Vic' Symes passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on June 17, 2026, in his 91st year. Born in River Hibert, NS, Vic moved to Ontario in his 20's and lived a long and meaningful life. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, generosity, love of family, and lasting impression he made on those who knew him. Vic is lovingly remembered by his wife Joanne, his children John (Donna), Sue (Doug), and Dan (Gayle), Brent Lamky (Melanie), and Paul Lamky. He was a proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Vic was predeceased by his son Darrell, his sister Ruth, and daughter-in-law Carolyn. A respected businessman and proud owner of Symes Office Equipment and Symes Catering, Vic was actively involved in his community as a past member of the Brantford Jaycees, Brantford Minor Sports, The Brantford Air Force Club, and served as an Alderman for the City of Brantford. He was part of the 1966 Brantford Red Sox Championship Team Executive, Burly Bus Lines Tours Happy Hookers, and a longtime member of The Brant Curling Club. Vic will be forever known as The Candy Man at Parks and Special events throughout the city. The family will receive friends at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road N, Brantford, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made in memory of Vic to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
