Florence Peace (nee Harbron) KRISTJANSON
Florence Peace Kristjanson (nee Harbron) passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the age of 95. Born in Toronto on January 3, 1931, to Tom and Sara Lillian Peace Harbron, she began her lifelong commitment to health care and community at a young age. Florence graduated from the University of Toronto in Physical and Occupational Therapy in 1953 and went on to have a distinguished career in physiotherapy, working at various hospitals including Sunnybrook, Newmarket, and Runnymede, before becoming Director of Physical Medicine at Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton in 1968. She was a strong advocate for physiotherapists to become direct access providers and conducted training programs, lectured at Sheridan College, and was active with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Florence obtained her degree in hospital administration in 1981 and became a Certified Health Executive in 1994. She also served as Director of Community Relations for PMH and was one of the first hospital-based patient ombudsmen in Ontario, pioneering the patient relations process at PMH.
