John Walter Nesbitt

John "Wally" Nesbitt passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 71. He was the first child of John (Jack) and Wilhelmina (Willie) Nesbitt and was later joined by his sister Kathleen and brother Ted. Wally never married. He completed a Grade 13 diploma in Science, Technology and Trades at Courtice Secondary School in 1973 and worked in farm and body‑shop labour, as a part‑time disc jockey, and as an amateur photographer before embarking on a thirty‑year career in the equipment‑rental industry. His lifelong passion for motorsports led to a career in motorsport journalism, culminating in his induction into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame (Media) in 2023. In later years, declining mobility prompted early retirement, after which he spent his time watching television, following sports, documentaries, nature programs, and political affairs. He is survived by his parents, sister and brother.
