William George Rivers

The family announces the passing of William George Rivers of Belleville, Ontario, on October 17, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on October 20, 1940, William was a cherished member of his community and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Cecilia Rivers, and his sister, Carol Price (late Al). William is survived by his beloved wife, Kay (Chatwood), and his sons: Steve Cannons (Rachel) of Tweed, Darren Rivers (Carrie) of Sarnia, Mark Cannons (Melanie) of Stirling, Jason Rivers (Christina) of Prince Edward County, and Adam Rivers (Meredith) of Kingston. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Jordon (Raven), Sara, Mitch (Amanda), Nate (Kayla), Brianne, Kensi, Bryden, and Lena, as well as his great-grandchildren, Castin, Sawyer, and Everett. William is also survived by his siblings: Shirley Craig (late Calvin) of Amherstview, Jean Smith of Toronto, Joan McLuskie (late Bob) of Toronto, Lou Rivers (Darlene) of Belleville, Theresa Mason (Jim) of Whitby, and Al Rivers (Angie) of Toronto, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 9:45 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, located at 399 Victoria Ave, Belleville, ON K8N2E7. A funeral Mass will follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. Burial will occur later that day from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at St. Carthagh's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, 154 Hungerford Rd, Tweed, ON K0K3J0. Memorial donations may be made in Bill's memory to Hospice Quinte or St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.
