He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mary Chant, his grandfather James Chant, and his great‑grandchildren Nicholas and Delilah. He is survived by his wife, Carol Chant; his children, Michelle Divinszki, Richard Chant and Brenda Chant; his grandchildren, Andrew, Kyle, Stephanie, Shalyn, Cassandra and Barry; and his great‑grandchildren, Thomas, Evelyn and Colter. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward or AB Smith Homestead House (Hospice).
