Betty Steele

The family of Betty Steele, of Beamsville, Ontario, announces her peaceful passing on August 22, 2026, at the age of 93. Born in Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Hopkins (née Reynolds) and was predeceased by her husband, Sam Steele, in 2023 after nearly 70 years of marriage. Betty was a devoted mother to Colleen (the late Robert), Bill (Jocelyn), Bob, Sam (Kelly), Jim (Jan), and Dan (Cathy), and she took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Joan Winter of Cochrane, Alberta, along with many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by sisters Ruth and Marion. A talented artist, Betty spent over 50 years creating oil paintings, particularly known for her landscapes and depictions of Niagara Falls. Her work was showcased in various galleries, and she cherished teaching others to paint. Betty's life was enriched by her art and her faith.
