John VELLINGA

John Vellinga, born on March 24, 1951, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Mary Theresa 'Terri' Vellinga for 53 years and a devoted father to his daughters, Christy Vellinga and Leslie Duncan. John was a proud and loving grandfather to Hudson and Emmett Cancilla, and Abigail and Madison Duncan. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Marguerite Vellinga, his twin brother, Frank Vellinga, and his parents-in-law, Mary and John Thompson. John is survived by his brothers Ron Vellinga and Vic Vellinga, and will be fondly remembered by his sisters and brothers-in-law, including Patti Ann Paton, Dennis Thompson, Yvonne Fox, Darryl Thompson, Paul Thompson, and Casey Thompson. John will also be remembered with great affection by his many nieces and nephews. Born in Toronto, John made Barrie his home in 1972. He was a hardworking and dedicated professional as a home builder. Visitation will be held at Adam's Funeral Home in Barrie on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
