Joan Fletcher Walker

Joan Fletcher Walker passed away on March 2, 2026, at the age of 96, at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia, who died in 2018, her siblings, Bob, Mary, Ruth, and Susan, and her parents, William Andrew Irwin and Roberta McLaughlin. She is survived by her son, Arthur Walker-Jones, daughter-in-law Carrie, and grandchildren David and Katherine, as well as her siblings' children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joan was also predeceased by her former husband, Doug, who died in 2009. A celebration of her life will be held at Grace United Church, Barrie, at 11:00 a.m. on July 11th. At Joan's request, her body was donated to the Division of Anatomy, University of Toronto, for study and research. In her memory, donations may be made by planting a tree or giving to something that is life-affirming.
