Janice Ruth (McCuaig) Laking

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Janice Ruth (McCuaig) Laking in Barrie, Ontario. Janice was born on December 23, 1929, and she departed this life on September 29, 2026, at the age of 96. She is survived by her beloved husband, John Laking, and her children: Wendy Fretz (Fred), Jane Ricks (Claude), Sandra Chalmers (John), Paul Laking (Anne), John Laking (Anita), Susan Nickel (Bruce), and Ruth Laking. Janice is also remembered by her brother, Bruce McCuaig, and her grandchildren: Kelsey (Andrew), Brooke Nickel (Jason), Jennifer (Corey), Jamie Ricks (Heidi), Kristin (Colin), Kyle Chalmers (Natalie), Alan Laking (Alma), Erin, Heidi, Taylor, and Jordan, along with 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation took place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home. A celebration of life was held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Collier Street United Church. In memory of Janice, donations may be made to MacLaren Art Centre or the Rotary Club of Barrie Charitable Foundation.
