Gilbert Thompson

Gilbert Thompson of Barrie, Ontario, passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 93. He was survived by his wife Rhona, daughter Wendy, son‑in‑law Wayne, grandchildren Braden and Lindsay, brother Don, and sister‑in‑law Jo. Visitation was scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Steckley‑Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, followed by a reception from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. He was interred at Innisvale Cemetery in Innisfil on August 8, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or another charitable organization of the family’s choosing.
