Regina Conway Hammond passed away peacefully at Henley House in St. Catharines, Ontario, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the age of 87, after several years of declining health. Born on Bell Island, Newfoundland, in 1938, she was predeceased by her husband, Cyril Hammond, her parents, Tom Conway and Florrie Fitzpatrick, and her sister, Marie, who was the late wife of Jim Leonard. She leaves her sisters Anita, wife of Doug Barnes, Cathy, wife of the late Kieran Whelan, Veronica, wife of Bill Vienneau, and Elizabeth, wife of Bill Lukachuk, brother Paul, husband of Jean Gibson, as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and the Hammond family. Regina and her late husband, Cyril, were longtime residents of St. Catharines, where she worked as a teacher for many years, and they were also long-time members of the Dalhousie Yacht Club. The family would like to thank the staff at Henley House, where Regina had been a resident since 2021, for her care during that time. The family would also like to thank friends Ellen and Diana, as well as friend and caregiver Sola, for their kindness. In keeping with her wishes, Regina has been cremated. Friends are invited to join the family at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, visiting Friday, May 1, 2026, from 9 to 10 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE.
