Mary Biczo

Mary Biczo passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2026, at the age of 101. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1990. Mary is survived by her loving children, Joseph Biczo (Helen) and Anne Walter (Michael), as well as her cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer), Lisa, Christopher (Nathalia), and Timothy. She was a proud great-grandmother to John, Jamie, and Fernanda. Mary will be dearly missed by her niece Mojca Jaksic and her close friends Pat and Margaret. Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, she immigrated to Canada in 1951, married in Welland, and settled in St. Catharines in 1957. Mary worked as a medical secretary, utilizing her knowledge of five languages to assist patients. She was actively involved in the St. Alfred Catholic Women's League for over 60 years and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crafting. Friends may visit the George Darte Funeral Home on September 1st from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Vigil Prayers at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on September 2nd at 1:30 p.m. at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Niagara Health Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
