Joseph Carlton MONTAGUE

Joseph Carlton Montague passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at Henley House on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the age of 88. He was the devoted husband of 66 years to Marlene Montague. Joseph was the loving father of Steven Montague (Maria), Joanne Martin (the late Alfie), and Raeanne Montague. He was the cherished Grandpa of David, Daniella, Adam, and Sarah. Joseph was predeceased by his siblings Monsignor Raymond Montague, Catherine (the late Jay), Bernice (Bill), and Pauline (the late Charlie). He is survived by his siblings Lorraine (John), Debbie (Dave), and Michael (Linda). Joseph will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. He taught with the Lincoln County Separate School Board and then continued for the remainder of his career as a respected elementary school Principal, retiring in 1993. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at the George Darte Funeral Home, visiting Wednesday, May 27th from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass in Celebration of his life will take place at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, May 28th at 12 p.m. with Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In honour of Joseph's memory, donations made to St. Catharines Rowing Club would be appreciated by the family.
