John LEWIS

John Charles Lewis passed away peacefully at Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the age of 84. He was the cherished son of the late Stanley and Ella Lewis (McLaren). John was the beloved husband and best friend of Linda (Sutherland) for 59 years. He was the loving father of Tim and his wife Dawn Lewis of Chatham. John was the proud Papa of Carson (Sydney), Zackary (Chelsea), Kailyn (Eden), Emilie (Karter), and Jake (Chelsea) and family. He was the dear brother of Allan and his wife Cheryl Lewis and Dan and his wife Marsha Lewis, and dear brother-in-law of Ted Sutherland. John was also loved by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Murray and his wife Carol, and brother-in-law Roy Sutherland. John retired from Bell Canada in 1992 after a dedicated career as an Automotive Mechanic. He spent his retirement working on various projects, including his brother's classic cars, his own classic car and antique boat, and lending a helping hand to friends. John and his wife Linda spent their winters in Florida, where they enjoyed reconnecting with friends and making new ones. He took immense pride in watching his grandchildren grow and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his great-granddaughter. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Lambton Palliative Care Team, the Community Paramedic Program, the Chatham-Kent Oncology Department, and the caring staff who supported John over the past ten years.
