Aldo CHERMAZ

Aldo Chermaz passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Maria for 70 years and father to Frank, Lorian, and Rosemarie. Aldo was also a loving Nonič to Mitchell, Marissa, Zachary, Evan, and Alexandra, and Great Nonič to Cooper and Scottie. Born on March 24, 1935, in Čentur, Slovenia, to the late Ernesto and Stefania Chermaz, Aldo was the dear brother of the late Erminia Pannofino and Lino Chermaz. After arriving in Canada in 1957, Aldo settled in St. Catharines and worked in construction and later at General Motors until his retirement at 59. He enjoyed his garden, was a founding member of Lipa Park, and loved the Slovenian community and culture. Aldo will be remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. The family is grateful for the care shown to Aldo by the doctors, nurses, and PSWs from 5B Orthopedics and the ICU. A gathering will be held at George Darte Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m., with vigil prayers at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, followed by a private inurnment.
