Martin Cecil Cooper passed away peacefully at Extendicare Hamilton on July 14, 2026, at the age of 96. He was the devoted and beloved husband of Dr. Monica Grantham and deeply treasured father of daughters Tina Cooper and Kirsten Cooper, and stepson Simon Jeeves. Martin was a proud and loving grandfather of Alex Henderson and Julia Henderson, and great-grandfather of Henry and Clive Henderson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews in England and Germany. Born in Portsmouth, England, Martin spent part of his childhood in Lymington during World War II and later fulfilled his National Service in the British Army in Egypt. He attended King's College London, earning a mathematics degree, and taught in England before moving to Canada in 1969 with his wife Christa and daughters. Martin enjoyed a fulfilling career teaching mathematics at T.A. His interests included travelling, gardening, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, classical music, and New Orleans jazz, as well as being an enthusiastic fan of Formula One racing, tennis, the Tour de France, and English Premier League football. Martin also took up lawn bowling in his eighties and developed a passion for it. He will be remembered for his love of good food, well-kept lawn, and mastery of the Excel spreadsheet.
