Margaret "Marney" Jane Swayze

Margaret 'Marney' Jane Swayze passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at St. Joseph's Villa in Dundas, Ontario. She is survived by her siblings Larry, Janet, Kathy, and Linda, as well as her sisters-in-law Jennifer and Marguerite, and many nieces and nephews. Marney was predeceased by her husband Clayton, siblings Harriet, Rick, Murray, and George, and parents Jane and George Collinson. A dedicated volunteer in the Hamilton community, Marney spent many years assisting students with reading skills, working with adults with special needs, and greeting seniors at the Seniors Active Living Centre. She was a registered member of Masters Swimming Ontario for 25 years and was nominated for the Hamilton Volunteer of the Year Award in 1991 and the Hamilton Municipal Senior of the Year Award in 2016. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph's Villa for their care and support. A visitation will be held on August 10, 2026, from 11am-1pm at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home - Ancaster Chapel, followed by a chapel service and burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
