Shirley Frances (née) Cross HOLMES

Shirley Frances Holmes passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Roy, her parents Edward Cross and Clara Valleau (Bill), and her brother Ron Cross (Joy). Survivors include her daughters Gayle and Paul (Janice) of Ancaster, grandchildren Ryan (Joanna), Wes (Nora) and Hilary (Mathew), and great‑grandchildren Benjamin, Arthur, Arya, Hunter and Maeve, as well as sister‑in‑law Beverly Holmes. A lifelong resident of Dundas, Shirley held positions with Bertram's, General Motors, Fruit N Stuff, the Elves Workshop, and served as a chaperone for the annual Miss Canada pageants. She and Roy were long‑standing members of the Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club and enjoyed annual vacations to Southampton, Ontario and Madeira Beach, Florida. The family thanks Dr. Prangley and the personal support workers who cared for her. Arrangements are with Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home, Ancaster Chapel, and a private remembrance will be held.
