Lois Anne Cairney passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 8, 2026, in her 95th year, at St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke, Hamilton. She was the only child of Jim and Edna Browne and the wife of 53 years to Bill Cairney, who predeceased her. Lois was the beloved mother of Beth, Jim, Janet, Dianne, and David, and a much loved grandmother of Sarah, Tyler, Joel, Meredith, Emily, and Aaron. She was also a great-grandmother of 12. Lois was predeceased by her infant son, Jimmy. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elaine, and her nephew, Scott, and his wife, Joanne, and their two great-nephews. Born in Ottawa, Lois was a long-term resident of Ancaster and an active member, chorister, and lay-leader of Marshall Memorial United Church. She was also a member of the Bach-Elgar Choir and participated in mission work in Kenya. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Marshall Memorial United Church, Ancaster. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at the same location, and will be live-streamed through mmuc.ca. In her memory, donations to Marshall Memorial United Church would be welcome. Her family extends its deep appreciation to the staff of the Birch Terrace of St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke.
